Mt. Olive Cemetery was founded in 1886 by the Scandinavian Lutheran Society to serve the local farming communities in the Dunning area of, what was then, the far Northwest suburbs of Chicago.
A bell at the entry still rings when a funeral procession enters.

There is a Veterans memorial. Most of the headstones are without dates. One is from WWII, and one is from the “Mexican War”.

Most of the early headstones are Scandinavian, but today many are Latino. There is also a Muslim section.

And there is a children’s section.

During COVID, my wife and I walked everyday. Near our home is a graveyard, Mt. Olive, and we often walked there. One thing led to another- taking pictures and researching- finding new graveyards to explore- so I started a graveyard blog. After 13 posts it got a virus and was taken down.

I’m now attempting to build a new blog. 
Here goes . .
